The Low-Residency MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults (MFAC) at Hamline University invites you to experience our summer residency first-hand. As one of the few programs in the country focused exclusively on writing for youth, we offer a unique, community-driven space for writers.
Whether you join us in person on campus or virtually via Zoom, you will get a close-up look at what makes our program so exciting.

Want a deeper dive? In addition to the Prospective Student Day program on July 18th, we are offering a special, limited-capacity track for just 12 prospective students. This Mini-MFAC Experience includes:
Online Workshop Session: Saturday, July 11 (9:30–11:30 AM CDT) with faculty advisor Sherri L. Smith. (No writing submission required!)
One-on-One Personal Feedback: A 30-to-60-minute (depending on number of enrollees) online session with Sherri L. Smith to review up to 8 pages of your work. Sessions will be scheduled between Sunday, July 12 and Thursday, July 16 (9:30–11:30 AM CDT).
